Crackle Quartz is created through processing pure Quartz. The mineral is exposed to extremely high temperatures and then suddenly cooled. Howlite is a white stone with veins of black or dark grey running throughout its polished surface. This stone is valued for its marble feel and ability to take dye. First found in Canada, Howlite is now mined in the USA, Brazil and South Africa. It is often made into decorative objects and when dyed blue, it resembles Turquoise.
